7 Outdoor Furniture Trends Happening Right Now

Outdoor furniture is a thing in Tampa Bay, and what would you expect from a place that outdoors all year? As seen at the 2022 High Point Spring Market, the hottest looks for your living room have opened up the patio doors and gone outside. If your front porch or back deck is due for a makeover, here’s how to make your upgrade up-to-the-minute fabulous.

Rounded Corners

Outdoor furniture has curves in all the right places this season, just like their indoor counterparts. Some pieces have gently rounded corners while others seem more like sculpture than furniture.

Natural Nods

Natural fibers like rattan, wicker, cotton, jute have been all over furniture and décor the last couple years (indoors and out) and they still are. Designers are taking fresh looks at natural textures by playing with size and color, like on the classic peacock chair, which is super popular this season.

Indoor-Outdoor Vibes

Patios have transformed into extensions of our interior living spaces, and furnishings have followed suit. Many designers are debuting furniture collections that mimic living and dining room furniture, making them equally at home in either environment.

Tropical Pops

Earthy tones will always have a place in outdoor furniture, but there’s a resurgence of color this summer, especially tropical blues and oranges. While easily incorporated in accent pieces, bold designers are incorporating upbeat hues in frames and upholstery.

Mixed Materials

You’ve heard less is more? Well this summer, more is more when it comes to mixing materials and textures in outdoor furniture. The variety adds interest and warmth to modern designs.

Eco-Friendly Elements

With increased awareness of the environmental damage caused by improper teak harvesting and plastics pollution, the demand for sustainable products has grown and designers are proud to show what they’ve come up with. Post-consumer recycled plastics are a big hit this year, as well as wood products from responsibly-managed forests

Flexible Footprints

Modularity, baby! Reconfigurable sofas, nesting side tables and ottomans that double as coffee tables and sofa extensions. They all increase the functionality of your outdoor spaces, which we are really into, now more than ever.
