Do This Before Listing Your Home in the Spring

There’s a lot of spring cleaning to do when you’re getting ready to sell your house, no matter what time of year it is. But if you’re planning on listing in the actual spring, there are a few extra things you’ll want to take care of.

Take advantage of longer days.

Sunlight sells, and spring is synonymous with it. Buyers might welcome a shady home in the heat a Tampa summer, but bring in all the sunshine for spring.

  • Windex those windows until they’re streak-free and sparkling clean.

  • Clear window sills of anything that might block light.

  • Remove heavy or dated window dressings to make the room feel lighter.

  • Paint the walls a bright neutral white to enhance the sunlight.

  • Add mirrors where light comes streaming in to compound the effect.

Freshen up with signs of the season.

Verdant green and blooming brightness embodies spring. Stop by one of South Tampa’s delightful garden shops for vibrant flowers to add an extra dose of cheer inside and outside your home.

  • Pull those pesky weeds that grew up over the winter.

  • Plant native flowers that show off what can be found locally.

  • Place charming bouquets in the entryway and kitchen for your open house.

  • Put down a fresh new welcome mat outside your front door.

Remember the outdoors.

Some areas of the country will still be seeing frigid temps in May, and the folks who live there can be forgiven for holding off on curb appeal projects. But in Tampa, even the early days of spring are your home’s time to shine! Don’t blow it.

  • Repaint the front door.

  • Replace your old mailbox with a modern one.

  • Add a potted plant to your doorstep.

  • Put down fresh mulch in your flowerbeds.
