Trending Interior Design Colors for 2023

The calming, earthy colors of 2022 took their inspiration from nature, speaking to our desire to bring the outdoors in and create a soothing, cocoonlike home environment. Times have changed. While 2023’s trends also include cozy neutrals and warm earth tones, the coming year is all about vivid self-expression.

BEHR BLANK CANVAS

Despite the implications of its name, Blank Canvas, a playful, warmer take on traditional white, is totally capable of standing on its own. It’s the starting point of the path: a journey toward color or one of a neutral, monochrome calm as seen in modern organic interiors.

DULUX WILD WONDER

With roots in the natural world, Wild Wonder radiates positivity with a soft glow. Whether used to foster a sense of comfort when paired with a neutral in a bedroom or to create a sense of fun in a naturally lit living room, the color is a balanced choice, fit for brighter days ahead.

YORK WALLCOVERINGS AMBER

Drawing on its namesake, Amber replaces negative energy with soothing positivity. It’s rich like luscious honey, yet as exotic and sensual as spiced turmeric. Both a precious gem and an ancient tree, amber captures the warmth of light for renewal, energy and power.

GLIDDEN VINING IVY

With its subtle transition away from the neutral greens that defined 2022, the jeweled tones of Vining Ivy successfully approaches a calming blue while exuding the same grounding qualities of a natural green. It creates a cozy, welcoming environment with a touch of luxe.

SHERWIN-WILLIAMS REDEND POINT

A dusty blushy beige with a desert rose feel, Redend Point is at once a warm neutral and an energizing earth tone. It’s a thoroughly versatile option that plays well with other neutrals. Next to beige, it looks like a color—but on its own, it performs like a well-behaved neutral.

DUNN-EDWARDS TERRA ROSA

As its name suggests, Terra Rosa is in the realm of earthy tones, pairing rich terracotta with a dusty rose. The hue holds its own as a dominant ground, while its muted shade makes it a timeless accent to almost any palette and a refreshing update to browns and burgundies.

BENJAMIN MOORE RASPBERRY BLUSH

Warm and vivid, Raspberry Blush is the wow factor, creating an instant impression in big or small doses. It represents a conscious desire to leave 2022’s neutrals behind, unapologetically adding a touch of excitement and happiness to any space.

GRAHAM & BROWN ALIZARIN

This deep, effervescent auburn is named after the pigment derived from the rubia plant, long used as dye. The warm richness and muted shade of Alizarin evokes a lush, ebullient ambiance that enlivens smaller spaces and infuses great rooms with Old World grandeur.

PANTONE VIVA MAGENTA

A nuanced, color-drenched crimson red that balances warm and cool, Viva Magenta is assertive but not aggressive. The carmine hue revels in pure joy, encouraging self-expression without restraint. It is audacious and witty, welcoming everybody with a verve for life.
